Tasting - Estancia Pinot Noir

Name: Estancia Pinot Noir
Variety: Pinot Noir
Region: Central Coast, California
Country: United States
Year: 2012
Price: $15.99

Winery Review: The cool fog sweeps in each evening, giving way to warm, sunny days perfect for ripening world-class Pinot Noir. Estancia Pinot Noir displays luscious berry flavors, spice and a rich, supple finish.

My Review: The aroma was pungent and filled with spices with a hint of kerosene oil. The surface texture was furry with full tannins- perhaps more than was to my liking. There were notions of dark, purple grapes, that created a puckery and dry, short finish. The wine was a little aggressive and there was a peppery feel. This was not paired with food, but maybe a grilled roast beef or hearty steak with plenty of garlic and onions would be fitting to complement the peppers and abrasive nature of this one.
